CDC has been working in Côte d’Ivoire since 1987, when it started a field research station and established the Retrovirus Côte d’Ivoire project (CDC Retro-CI). CDC Retro-CI produces evidence to help shape the global HIV/AIDS response. CDC is currently helping implement evidence-based HIV/AIDS programs that empower governmental and nongovernmental organizations. In addition, CDC supports flu and polio surveillance and the development of a National Public Health Institute.
