The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is hosting the International Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases 2015 (ICEID 2015) at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, from August 24 to 26, 2015.
The 2015 conference marks the ninth ICEID; since 1998, CDC has organized ICEID in collaboration with public health partners including the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE), the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL), and the World Health Organization (WHO). The conference brings together approximately 2500 public health professionals from around the world to encourage the exchange of scientific and public health information on global emerging infectious disease issues.
The ICEID highlights global partnerships in emerging infectious disease surveillance and response, global disease prevention initiatives, and national and global preparedness. The program will include plenary and panel sessions with invited speakers, as well as oral and poster presentations on emerging infections. Major topics to be included are antimicrobial resistance, bioterrorism and preparedness, foodborne and waterborne illnesses, global health, molecular diagnositics and epidemiology, healthcare-associated infections, socio-economic and political factors contributing to disease spread, vector-borne and zoonotic diseases, and many other topics related to the challenges posed by microbial threats both in the United States and abroad.
