History
The University of Pennsylvania Emergency Medicine residency program began in June 1996 with a class of 6 residents, and since then have matured into a group of 44 bright, hardworking, and fun-loving residents. Penn's educational philosophy is to provide outstanding opportunity and mentorship to our trainees. Penn wants graduates to become leaders in their respective career paths. The four-year curriculum allows residents a greater breadth and depth of clinical experience, with unparalleled exposure to pediatrics and critical care.
Penn is located on the University of Pennsylvania campus in West Philadelphia, where residents care for a tremendously diverse patient population. The combination of the urban, inner city population of West Philadelphia, and patients attracted to the tertiary care specialties available at our internationally recognized institution, make the emergency department a fantastic melting pot, and a stimulating clinical experience.
