The Together Network

One of the best tools available to improve the health of your community is the community itself. CDC recognizes the value of involving those affected by HIV in the response to HIV.  In the spring of 2013, the Together Network was formed to build a coalition of people across the country who are invested in raising awareness, preventing HIV transmission, and improving the lives of people living with HIV in their communities, all of whom are featured in the Let’s Stop HIV Together campaign.  Let’s Stop HIV Together participants and their supporters are consistently involved with the campaign as community champions to help CDC further disseminate key campaign messages.

Together Network Activities

The Together Network connects with local organizations and community-based programs to speak out against stigma, promote HIV testing and treatment options, and improve the lives of people living with HIV. To date, the Together Network has supported numerous campaign activities to include;

  • Representing the campaign at National conferences and festivals (i.e. U.S. Conference on AIDS, International AIDS Conference, Positive Women’s Network Summit, People en Español Music Festival, summer Pride events)
  • Planning and coordinating local HIV testing and anti-stigma events among high-risk audiences
  • Identifying and participating in youth speaking engagements around the country
  • Hosting and attending A Day with HIV traveling exhibit events
  • Securing earned media opportunities in their local communities
  • Participating in special blogger outreach initiative on behalf of the campaign
