Y. Teresa Brown is the Associate Director for Policy for CDC’s Division of Public Health Information Dissemination (DPHID), Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services (CSELS). She began her federal career as a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) in 1999. During the two year fellowship she completed assignments with the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE), and a Community Health Center in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, which allowed her to develop a comprehensive view programs and services within the Department of Health and Human Services.

Upon completion of the fellowship, Teresa spent the next several years engaged in program and policy development, serving as a project officer, and coordinating program evaluations at HRSA and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR). Teresa returned to CDC in 2009 as a Public Health Analyst (Policy) in the National Center for Public Health Informatics (NCPHI), and has since served as a Senior Public Health Analyst (Policy) with the Epidemiology and Analysis Program Office (EAPO). Her professional interests include strategic planning, program evaluation, and using results to improve programs.

Teresa earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University and master’s degrees in both Social Work and Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
