Joshua A. Mott is Branch Chief of the Epidemiology Workforce Branch and Chief of the EIS Program. Previously, he was the Influenza Program Director in Nairobi, Kenya.

Dr. Mott has been with CDC since 1998. From 1998–2000 he was an EIS officer with the Air Pollution and Respiratory Health Branch, National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH); from 2001–2004 he served as the Field Epidemiology Team Leader in that branch. From 2004–2006 he led the Epidemiology and Surveillance team in the Bioterrorism and Preparedness and Response Program, National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID). He joined the International Epidemiology and Response Team, Influenza Division in 2006, and in 2009 was seconded to the WHO regional Office for Europe. In 2011, he became Influenza Program Director in Nairobi, Kenya.

Dr. Mott received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in anthropology from The Ohio State University. He received his PhD in community health and epidemiology from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. He also has worked as a licensed EMT-Paramedic in the State of Georgia.
