Ami Putman is the Associate Director for Communication for the Division of Laboratory Systems (DLS). Ms. Putman has over 12 years of experience planning, designing, and conducting, public health, marketing, and media communication campaigns. Putman’s past notable service includes managing communication activities for CDC’s “Learn the Signs. Act Early.” and “A Healthiest Nation” campaigns. She also served as the co-founder and spokesperson for “Truth,” a national anti-tobacco campaign.
Before joining DLS, Ms. Putman served as the Deputy Associate Director for Communication for the Division of Global Migration and Quarantine (DGMQ) in the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID). She led the communications team managing evidence-based training, education, and communication activities for internal and external audiences. She has served as lead for DGMQ’s Global Migration and Community Mitigation Task Force Communication Teams for several public health emergency responses including H1N1 pandemic flu, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, Ebola, and Zika.
Ms. Putman earned her Master of Public Health degree from Emory University in Behavioral Science and Health Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Marketing from Georgia State University.
