Charles began working at CDC in 2004 on communications and policy in the National Center for Infectious Diseases. In 2006, He led policy for the newly formed Influenza Coordination Unit, and in 2012 joined the Office of Appropriations (OA), working as the account manager for NCEZID. In 2013, Charles began work as a team lead for what would become the OA Congressional Team. He joined CSELS as the Associate Director for Policy and Strategy in July 2016. Prior to joining CDC, Charles worked at the National Office of the Arthritis Foundation where his leadership positions included Group Vice President for Systems Management and Vice President for Evaluation and Organizational Development.
