Jason Thomas serves as CDC’s Biosurveillance Coordinator, a function that resides in the Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services (CSELS) at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). His expertise in building collaborative relationships across the U.S. Government as well as with state, local, and foreign government partners provides a solid foundation for his current role.

Prior to this appointment, CAPT Thomas served as the Chief of the Global Health Security Branch in CDC’s Center for Global Health. In that role, he coordinated the implementation of the Global Health Security Agenda in dozens of countries in Africa and Asia. He worked closely with the Office of the Director on the justification and planning for the $1.2B in emergency funding for Ebola and Global Health Security. He has over 20 years of public health policy and program management experience with a variety of organizations and programs, including the U.S. Navy, National Park Service, CDC’s Division of Global Migration and Quarantine, and the Office of Global Affairs within the Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
