MAHC Network

Join the the MAHC Network created by the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). The MAHC Network is a community for MAHC users, subject matter experts, and those hoping to learn about the code itself. Members will receive updates on the code, have access and provide input to newly developed resources, and join bi-monthly webinars featuring the code and users.

Title: Springboard to Prevention: The Model Aquatic Health Code, 1st Edition. National Environmental Health Association Pre-Conference Workshop
Summary: These four PowerPoint presentations were used in a half-day session sponsored by the CMAHC and the National Environmental Health Association. They cover the creation and development of the MAHC and focus in detail on two key areas in the MAHC, lifeguarding and secondary disinfection. The presentations end with a summary of upcoming guidance for regulatory programs and planned MAHC surveillance to measure long term public health impact.

2013

Title: National Conference of State Legislatures Webinar: The Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC)
Summary: The MAHC will serve as a model and guide for local and state agencies needing to update or implement swimming pool and spa code, rules, regulations, guidance, law, or standards governing the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of swimming pools, spas, hot tubs, and other treated or disinfected aquatic facilities. This webinar, hosted by the National Conference of State Legislatures on December 10, 2013, featured three speakers addressing the MAHC from different perspectives.

Title: The Model Aquatic Health Code
Summary: People in the United States make more than 300 million trips to public pools each year, but there is no federal regulatory authority governing the health and safety of swimmers. This 5-minute video briefly explains the background of the Model Aquatic Health Code and why this model guidance is important in addressing the numerous health and safety issues swimmers face every time they enter a public pool.
