The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has completed its examination of the quality of the air that comes through breathing hoses used by laboratory scientists working in its Biosafety Level 4 (BSL-4) labs. Independent testing by an external accredited laboratory has determined that the air supplied by the hoses in use meets the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standard for breathable air.

Work in the BSL-4 laboratories that was suspended on February 16 has resumed. CDC is committed to protecting the health and safety of employees and the public through state-of-the-art laboratory safety programs.
