The water bottles are used to estimate the volume of water consumed when drinking from a water bottle. If the amount consumed was less than full but a measurable amount, such as half a bottle, it will be recorded as such. If the amount was less than a full bottle but cannot be quantified, such as “a little less than full”, the interviewer will re-direct the respondent to demonstrate the amount using the glasses.
