National Study of Long-Term Care Providers: 2014 Restricted Survey Data Available
The Long-Term Care Statistics Branch (LTCSB) in the Division of Health Care Statistics (DHCS) at the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) is pleased to announce that restricted survey data files on adult day services centers (ADSCs) and residential care communities (RCCs) from the 2014 National Study of Long-Term Care Providers (NSLTCP) are now available for use by approved researchers in the NCHS Research Data Center (RDC). The RDC provides access to restricted survey data files for approved users and fees apply.
Currently, the ADSC and RCC data dictionaries can be obtained as PDF files directly from the Long-Term Care Statistics Branch. Please call 301-458-4747 and leave your name and email address; a copy will be emailed to you. You can also email us at ltcsbfeedback@cdc.gov to request the data dictionaries.
The data dictionaries contain information on the variables for five sections in the ADSC and RCC questionnaires: Background Information; Services Offered; Staff Profile; Resident/Participant Profile; and Record Keeping. Please refer to the RCC questionnaire [PDF - 248 KB] and ADSC questionnaire [PDF - 233 KB] for more information about the surveys' questions. For more information about the available 2014 RCC and ADSC survey data or about using the RDC, please visit the RDC website or contact NCHS' Long-Term Care Statistics Branch (301-458-4747).
NCHS launched the biennial NSLTCP in 2012 to provide national and state statistical information about the supply, provision and use of paid, regulated long-term care services in the United States. NSLTCP comprises two components: (1) survey data collected by NCHS on adult day services centers (ADSCs) and assisted living and similar residential care communities (RCCs); and (2) administrative data on nursing homes, home health agencies, and hospices obtained from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. For more information, please see the NSLTCP survey methodology and documentation and readme documents on the NSLTCP Questionnaires, Datasets, and Related Documentation webpage.
