GMWKI Worktable 1 provides the total number of deaths for each cause. Deaths are tabulated by 5-year age groups, race, and sex. The data refers to only those resident deaths that occurred in the United States. Fetal deaths are excluded. Individual cause-of-death category numbers are those coded according to the 10th Revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10). A number of States did not provide complete confirmation of deaths from infrequent and rare causes. For technical details, see technical appendix.
Beginning with the 2008 data year, this annual table is no longer produced. Users are directed to CDC WONDER a detailed mortality database. This tool enables users to create tables with the content that was available in previously produced tables.
