Workers Memorial Day

On April 28, Workers Memorial Day, the United States joins the international labor community in remembering those workers who have died or been injured on the job. Workers Memorial Day also commemorates the 33rd anniversary of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Act, which created the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) within CDC and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) within the U.S. Department of Labor.

To mark this year’s Workers Memorial Day, CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) has published an observation of this day and three articles relating to workplace safety and health.
