FIRE FIGHTING

FIRE Highly flammable. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking. NO contact with oxidants.
Water spray, foam, alcohol-resistant foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Above 17°C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed.
Above 17°C use a closed system, ventilation, and explosion-proof electrical equipment. Do NOT use compressed air for filling, discharging, or handling.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
EXPOSURE
STRICT HYGIENE!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
•INHALATION Dizziness. Laboured breathing. Nausea. Vomiting. Weakness. Confusion. Convulsions. Unconsciousness.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Artificial respiration may be needed. Refer for medical attention. See Notes.
•SKIN MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness. (Further see Inhalation).
Protective clothing. Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
•EYES Redness. Pain. Blurred vision.
Face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
•INGESTION (See Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Give a slurry of activated charcoal in water to drink. Refer for medical attention. See Notes.

Remove all ignition sources. Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. (Extra personal protection: self-contained breathing apparatus.)
Fireproof. Separated from strong oxidants, strong reducing agents , strong bases , strong acids, food and feedstuffs . Keep in a well-ventilated room.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

COLOURLESS LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:
The vapour mixes well with air, explosive mixtures are formed easily.

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on burning, on contact with hot surfaces or flames or acids producing toxic and corrosive fumes including hydrogen cyanide and nitrogen oxides . Reacts violently with strong acids , strong bases , strong oxidants and strong reducing agents .

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by ingestion, by inhalation and through the skin.

INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air can be reached rather quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C; on spraying or dispersing, however, much faster.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The vapour is mildly irritating to the eyes , the skin and the respiratory tract . The substance may cause effects on the cellular respiration (inhibition) , resulting in convulsions , cardiac disorders and respiratory failure . Exposure at high levels may result in death. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.
