What's New with OHSN
OHSN Powerpoint Training Guides now available!
NIOSH has new resources to assist users with OHSN tools and reports. Contact NIOSHOHSN@CDC.Gov to request either of our training materials: Using the OHSN Conversion and Mapping Tool, and Using OHSN Reports.
Look for an article on OHSN in Hospital Employee Health, October 2014: “Hospitals Can Track, Compare Needlesticks”
NIOSH is pleased to announce open enrollment for OHSN in Summer 2013. Healthcare facilities and systems can now take advantages of OHSN’s unique benefits in tracking traumatic injuries among healthcare workers. Click the enrollment link to get started!
OHSN New Feature! Based on feedback from OHSN testing with healthcare facilities, NIOSH has added a new OHSN feature: a mapping tool. If your healthcare facility can export its existing data to Excel, then this new tool can help you match your local terms and values to OHSN values. This one-time mapping allows you to keep your own data collection processes, while still enabling you to benchmark your rates against those of other, similar healthcare facilities. For more information see the Facility Tools at http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/ohsn/plan.html. You can also contact the OHSN team at NIOSHOHSN@cdc.gov.
NIOSH has been working with commercial software vendors to incorporate exportable OHSN reports directly into future versions of their software. Vendors that have been in communication with OHSN include:
- OHASIS ( http://innovation.ghrp.ubc.ca/ohasis/ ),
- Axion Health ( http://axionhealth.com/ ),
- MediTrax ( www.meditrax.com ),
- ULPureSafety ( http://www.puresafety.com/public/ ) and
- Net Health Agility Software ( http://www.nhsinc.com/ ).
We encourage you to talk to your software vendors and let them know that you are eager to work with OHSN.
OHSN Mentioned in Joint Commission Monograph
OHSN is pleased to be mentioned in the recent Joint Commission monograph titled “Improving Patient and Worker Safety: Opportunities for Synergy, Collaboration, and Innovation.” This resource contains useful information on preventing slips, trips and falls, patient handling injuries, and workplace violence, and many other useful topics. See
