NIOSH Invites Applications to Fill Vacancy for Surveillance, Hazard Evaluations, Field Studies Director

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is seeking candidates to fill a vacant, senior leadership position, Director of the NIOSH Division of Surveillance, Hazard Evaluations, and Field Studies (DSHEFS).
The position calls for a highly experienced occupational health or safety professional who will plan, organize, and manage a diverse program of research, injury and illness surveillance, and public health response. The Division includes more than 190 employees, with an annual budget of more than $30 million. The position is located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Included in the Division's responsibilities are such legislatively mandated programs as health hazard evaluations, industry-wide occupational studies, hazard and health surveillance, and health effects research. In addition to administering those programs, the Director also serves as a senior advisor to the NIOSH Director. In that role, the successful candidate will provide guidance with other senior managers on NIOSH program development, policy formulation, outreach and intervention activities, partnership development, capacity building, and assuring the scientific quality, relevance, timeliness, and useful of NIOSH's programs and activities.
Candidates should have either a Ph.D. in one of the occupational safety and health disciplines, or an M.D. with specialization or expertise in occupational medicine or a related field. NIOSH also is seeking candidates with strong leadership, managerial, and public health experience.
