WHAT

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) announces a teleconference meeting to present results from a study of birth defects in the children of former workers of the International Business Machine (IBM) facility in Endicott, New York. This meeting is being held to present study results to stakeholders and members of the public and to offer opportunity for comments.

WHO

NIOSH and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) will present study findings and answer questions via teleconference to the library.

BACKGROUND

In 2014, NIOSH presented findings on the first part of this study: causes of death and testicular cancer cases among former IBM-Endicott workers. The second part of the study, an assessment of birth defects among the children of former workers, has been completed by NIOSH, in conjunction with NYSDOH. A teleconference meeting will be held to present the results.

Tentative Agenda:

• A 45-minute presentation will be given by NIOSH officials via teleconference to the library.
• Upon completion of the presentation, members of the public will be provided the opportunity to comment or ask questions of NIOSH and NYSDOH. A sign-up sheet for those interested in speaking will be available on site. Speakers will be called on in order of sign-ups.
• The meeting will end at noon ET or after the last commenter has spoken, whichever occurs first.
