NIOSH Urges Federal Workforce to Register for the Healthier Federal Workers 2014 Conference

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)’s Office for Total Worker Health, along with federal partners, will be hosting the Healthier Federal Workers 2014 Conference this October 8-10th at the National Institute of Health campus in Bethesda, MD. NIOSH joins with the National Institutes of Health, the US Office of Personnel Management, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the US Department of Health and Human Services, Federal Occupational Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Department of the Army to host the conference, the only national meeting dedicated to the health, safety and well-being of America’s public servants: the federal workforce.

Up to 300 Federal, state and private sector colleagues from more than 50 Federal agencies and national organizations will meet at Healthier Federal Workers 2014.This year’s conference offers lower cost registration than previous years and will feature all new content with the latest strategies for advancing the safety, health and well-being of the federal workforce.

The conference will provide the space to:

• Be inspired by opening remarks from Acting Surgeon General, RADM Boris Lushniak, and NIOSH Director, John Howard, MD.
• Hear from 25 leading national experts who will provide the latest evidence-based prevention science and give participants valuable skills, guidance, plans and tools to put into practice right away.
• Expand your agency’s knowledge on how to create safer and healthier working conditions and improving productivity and collaborations by taking part in plenary sessions, break-out tracks and panels.
• Experience a unique conference that ties in physical activity, hands-on demonstrations of how to improve workforce well-being, and access to fresh and wholesome food.
• Provide invaluable input that will help shape the very first agenda for the Nation on integrating occupational safety and health protection with health promotion.
• Learn how to create enhanced cultures of safety and health by attending one of five post-conference workshop courses offered.

The NIOSH Office for Total Worker Health invites participants to extend their conference experience and attend the 1^st International Symposium to Advance Total Worker Health held October 6-8 at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.
