Foodborne Norovirus Outbreaks
Norovirus continues to be the leading cause of foodborne outbreaks in the United States. According to a CDC study, sick food handlers are the main source, causing about half of the foodborne norovirus outbreaks from 2001 to 2008. Fresh produce, primarily leafy vegetables or fruits, are most often implicated in foodborne norovirus outbreaks.
