Project Description: The NCHHSTP Atlas is the main visualization portal for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB case surveillance data. Since the Atlas was developed using Adobe Flex, it cannot be viewed on iOS devices. The development of a parallel and complementary visualization system using mobile-friendly technology (perhaps Tableau) could immediately solve the problem of viewing NCHHSTP data on iOS and could provide the framework for advancing the innovative capacity of the existing Atlas infrastructure.

This project will consist of a comparative evaluation of mobile friendly visualization technology for use with the Atlas’s public HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB data. The evaluation will consist of the following survey mobile-friendly technologies.

• Measure license and infrastructure cost, time and resources needed for development, and ability to replicate key Atlas visualizations (maps, charts, and tables).
• Select a technology for piloting.
• Pilot using Atlas data.
