Triatoma protracta
Key characteristics:
Three subspecies (protracta, navajoensis, woodi) have been reported from the U.S. They are polymorphic in appearance. T. protracta woodi is featured in the images here.
- Overall dark brown to black
- Mouthparts with short hairs; becoming longer at tip
- Pronotum uniformly light brown to black
- Tip of scutellum short, broad
- Legs short, stout
