SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
A Meta-Analysis of Health Status, Health Behaviors, and Healthcare Utilization Outcomes of the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program
Identification: 146 studies of CDSMP were identified; we were unable to obtain 12 studies. Screening: 134 CDSMP studies were screened for eligibility; we rejected 100 studies. Forty-nine studies were eliminated because they were not CDSMP-specific; 8 were eliminated because they reported on implementation of CDSMP in a nonnative-English–speaking country; 5 were eliminated because CDSMP was combined with another intervention; and 38 were eliminated because they did not include data on at least 1 primary outcome. Eligibility: 34 articles were eligible for inclusion in the meta-analysis; 11 articles were eventually eliminated. Three articles were eliminated because we could not retrieve necessary data from the principal investigator; 8 were eliminated because they reported duplicative data. Included: 23 studies were included in the meta-analysis.
