Increasing Access to Farmers Markets for Beneficiaries of Nutrition Assistance: Evaluation of the Farmers Market Access Project
A flow diagram of the eligibility criteria, numbers eligible, numbers invited to be surveyed, and numbers responding for each of the 3 populations included in the evaluation. Vendors and their employees were eligible to be surveyed if they were eligible to participate in the Farmers Market Access Project (N = 125 vendors; N = 191 vendor stalls). We had contact information for 96 vendors, 53 of whom completed the online or telephone survey. We attempted to survey an employee at all 191 vendor stalls and conducted face-to-face surveys with 99. WIC clinic staff were eligible to be surveyed if they worked at a clinic near an intervention market (N = 102 WIC clinic staff). We sent written surveys to 102 WIC staff members and received 83 completed surveys. Market managers of each intervention market were eligible to be interviewed (N = 9). We conducted a face-to-face interview with all 9 eligible market managers. All 9 market managers and 1 representative of each of the 13 nearby WIC clinics were eligible to attend a joint focus group. Seven market managers and 10 WIC staff members participated.
