Hypertension Prevalence, Awareness, Treatment, and Control and Sodium Intake in Shandong Province, China: Baseline Results From Shandong–Ministry of Health Action on Salt Reduction and Hypertension (SMASH), 2011
The first of 2 maps shows the location of Shandong province in China in the approximate middle of China’s coastline. The second map shows the 20 sampled counties/districts in Shandong Province: Bingcheng, Chengwu, Feicheng, Fushan, Gaomi, Gaotang, Huaiyin, Junan, Laicheng, Laoling, Mudan, Penglai, Shouguang, Sifang, Wendeng, Wucheng, Xuecheng, Yiyuan, Zhangdian, Zhoucheng.

Among 156 villages and communities in 20 counties or districts and 13,010 households, 15,600 adults were selected. Of the 15,600 adults, 14,230 responded (91.2% response rate), and 1,370 did not respond. Of the adults who did not respond, 1,120 were replaced by adults with the same profile in the same village or community. The reasons for replacement were the following: out, 30.6%; absent, 56.1%; refused, 11.7%; and other, 1.6%. There were 15,350 participants in the survey: 7,683 men and 7,667 women. All (n = 15,350) participated in the physical measurements (response rate, 100%); 2,208 participated in the 24-hour dietary recall survey (response rate, 98%), and 2,112 participated in the 24-hour urine and blood sample collection (response rate, 96.7%).
