A Conceptual Framework for Organizational Readiness to Implement Nutrition and Physical Activity Programs in Early Childhood Education Settings

An overview of the conceptual framework to evaluate organizational readiness of early childhood education (ECE) settings to implement nutrition and physical activity programs among children aged 0 to 5 years. The framework posits that organizational factors (at the level of ECE director and administration), and individual factors (at the teacher level) collectively inform readiness to successfully implement new nutrition and physical activity programs and are specific to program objectives. The organizational factors include structural and resource constructs and the ECE director’s perception of staff attributes. The individual level factors include teachers’ perceptions of their own attributes and other psychological constructs.
