CDC's Vision Health Initiative began tracking "vision impairment and access to eye care" via the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) in 2005. The data collected is intended to help inform and guide partners in developing vision loss prevention and eye health promotion strategies. This application presents data for vision loss, eye diseases, and access to eye care. The interactive maps present prevalence of eye conditions, vision loss, and access to eye care for the state, by racial/ethnic group, gender, education, and diabetes.
