Administration
- Type: Atypical antipsychotic
- Dosage Forms:
- Routes of Administration: PO, IM depot
- Common Trade Names: Abilify
Adult Dosing
- 2-30 mg PO daily
Pediatric Dosing
- > 6yo: 2-30 mg PO daily (slower titration up)
Special Populations
- Pregnancy Rating: C
- Lactation risk: Infant risk cannot be ruled out
- Concomitant use of CYP3A4 or CYP2D6 inhibitors: reduce dose
- Concomitant use of CYP3A4 inducers: increase dose
- Renal dosing: no adjustment
- Hepatic dosing: no adjustment

- Allergy to class/drug
Adverse Reactions
Serious
- Cardiac arrest, cardiac failure, prolonged QT, MI
- Neuroleptic malignant syndrome, hyperthermia, rhabdomyolysis
- Seizure, stroke
- Tardive dyskinesia
- Agranulocytosis, leukopenia
- Angioedema
- Pancreatitis
- DKA
- Suicidal behavior
Common
- Somnolence, dizziness, akathisia, anxiety, insomnia, headache
- Extrapyramidal symptoms, tremor
- Nausea, vomiting, constipation
- Weight gain
Pharmacology
- Half-life: ~75 hours
- Metabolism: Hepatic via CYP2D6 and CYP3A4
- Excretion: Mostly fecal

- Not well understood. D2 and HT2A antagonist, D3 and 5HT1A partial agonist
