Adult Dosing

  • Influenza A: 100 mg PO BID

Pediatric Dosing

  • <10 years old: 5 mg/kg PO daily, max 150 mg/day
  • 10 years or older: 100 mg PO BID

Special Populations

  • Pregnancy Rating: C
  • Lactation risk: Infant risk cannot be ruled out
  • Renal dosing, CrCl <30: 100 mg PO daily
  • Severe liver disease: 100 mg PO daily

Contraindications

  • Allergy to class/drug

Adverse Reactions

Serious

  • Heart block, syncope heart failure
  • Cerebrovascular and spinal vascular disorders
  • Seizure
  • Hallucinations
  • Bronchospasm

Common

  • Nausea/vomiting, abdominal pain, anorexia, xerostomia
  • Asthenia, dizziness, fatigue
  • Nervousness, insomnia
  • Headache

Pharmacology

  • Half-life: ~25h
  • Metabolism: Hepatic
  • Excretion: Mostly renal

Mechanism of Action

  • Not well understood, interferes with viral M2 protein
