Adult Dosing
- Insomnia: 50-100mg PO at bedtime
- Depression: 150-600 mg/day in divided doses

Special Populations
- Pregnancy Rating: C
- Lactation risk: Infant risk cannot be ruled out
- Renal dosing: no adjustment
- Hepatic dosing: no adjustment
Contraindications
- Allergy to class/drug
- MAOI use currently or in past 2 weeks
- Concomitant use of saquinavir/ritonavir
Adverse Reactions
Serious
- Prolonged QT, Torsades de pointes
- Hypotension
- Serotonin syndrome
- Suicidal thoughts/behavior
- Seizure
- Priapism
Common
- Somnolence, dizziness, confusion, insomnia, anxiety, dream disorder
- Headache, blurred vision
- Constipation, nausea/vomiting, xerostomia
- Backache

- Half-life: 7h
- Metabolism: Hepatic, CYP3A4
- Excretion: Mostly renal

- Not well understood. May act like a SSRI. Also an alpha-1 adrenergic antagonist
