Widened mediastinum

Background
Generally diagnosed on plain radiography of the chest, concerning measurements exceed 8cm.
Anatomy
Divided into superior and inferior compartments, the latter further subdivided into anterior, middle and posterior compartments.[2]

- Dilated pulmonary artery

- Descending aortic aneurysm
- Paraspinal abscess
