The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) is preparing a Public Health Assessment (PHA) for Coldwater Creek in St. Louis, Missouri as a result of community concerns and the discovery of radioactive contamination in parks and residences along Coldwater Creek.
ATSDR will conduct an extensive review of community environmental health concerns as part of the PHA process. The PHA will help to determine if people have been exposed in the past, are exposed currently, or may be exposed in the future to hazardous substances in Coldwater Creek. The PHA will evaluate the possible health impacts of exposures and make recommendations on actions needed to prevent or reduce exposures and protect public health.
ATSDR is a federal public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. ATSDR serves the public by using the best science, taking responsive public health actions, and providing trusted health information to prevent harmful exposures and diseases related to toxic substances.
