Tutorial II: Data Management
This training introduces several useful pieces of analytical GIS functionality with health applications including: geocoding, spatial joins, and essential geoprocessing tasks like clip, buffer, and project.
This training is part of a larger curriculum created as part of the GIS Surveillance for Heart Disease, Stroke, and Other Chronic Diseases in State and Local Health Departments project.

Module 1: Leveraging the Where of Geographic Data.
This module discusses spatial relationships within a single layer and between multiple layers using sptatial selections and spatial joins.
Module 2: Editing Attribute Tables.
This module discusses the attributes of spatial data, including editing the contents of existing attribute fields, adding new attribute fields, and using the field calculator.
Module 3: Getting Started with Metadata.
This module discusses the basics of metadata, including reading, searching, and creating metadata.
Module 4: Essential Geoprocessing Tasks.
This module introduces the concept of geoprocessing, and describes four basic geoprocessing tools: Project, Select, Buffer, and Clip.
Module 5: Mapping Point Level Data.
This module introduces the basics of geocoding, including the use of ArcGIS and web-based geocoding tools.
Module 6: Mapmaking.
This module introduces some intermediate mapmaking concepts, including labeling conventions, inset maps, and proportional symbol maps.
