Division of Diabetes Translation
In the world of public health, 'translation' means translating research into daily practice to understand the effect of the disease, influence health outcomes, and improve access to quality health care. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s Division of Diabetes Translation does just this, translating diabetes research into practice.

National Diabetes Prevention Program
The National Diabetes Prevention Program is a public-private partnership of community organizations, private insurers, employers, health care organizations and government agencies.  These partners work to establish local evidence-based lifestyle change programs for people at high risk for type 2 diabetes.

Appalachian Diabetes Control and Translation Project
This programs works to reduce the impact of diabetes on people who live in high-risk and/or distressed counties in the Appalachian region.

Initiative on Diabetes and Woman's Health
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), American Diabetes Association (ADA), the American Public Health Association (APHA), and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) cosponsor the National Public Health Initiative on Diabetes and Women's Health. The Initiative is currently focused on implementing interventions to improve access and quality of care for women with a history of gestational diabetes through collaborations with national and state partners.

Chronic Kidney Disease
The Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Initiative is designed to provide comprehensive public health strategies for promoting kidney health. These strategies seek to prevent and control risk factors for CKD, to raise awareness, to promote early diagnosis, and to improve outcomes and quality of life for those living with CKD.

Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention
The mission of the Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Division is to provide public health leadership to improve cardiovascular health for all, reduce the burden, and eliminate disparities associated with heart disease and stroke.

Steps to Wellness: A Guide to Implementing the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans in the Workplace provides employers interested in establishing or expanding their wellness programs with easy and understandable steps on how to increase the physical activity of employees in the workplace.

StairWELL to Better Health
Taking the stairs is one way to be more physically active. At work, employees are often presented with a choice between taking the stairs and taking an elevator or escalator. Choosing the stairs instead of the elevator is a quick way for people to add physical activity to their day.
