Transatlantic Taskforce on Antimicrobial Resistance (TATFAR)
TATFAR was created in 2009 to improve cooperation between the U.S. and the European Union to reduce the threat of antibiotic resistant (AR) germs.
CDC currently serves as the secretariat for TATFAR, providing administrative support and maintaining the website for the Taskforce.
Key Areas Focus To Reduce the Threat of AR
- Improve appropriate therapeutic use of antimicrobial drugs in medical and veterinary communities.
- Prevent healthcare and community-associated drug-resistant infections.
- Develop strategies for improving the pipeline of new antimicrobial drugs.
