Global Health Funding
CDC manages approximately $3.1 billion in United States Government financial investments to improve health globally and to protect the American people from health and security threats that cross international borders. In FY 2016, CDC funding included:
Direct Appropriations
- $427.1 million in direct appropriations from Congress for health programs in Global HIV/AIDS, Global Immunizations, Global Disease Detection and Emergency Response, Parasitic Diseases and Malaria, and Global Public Health Protection.
- $10.9 million in supplemental appropriations to support recovery efforts in Haiti.
Congressional Appropriations transferred from United States Government Agencies
- $2.1 billion in transfers from the U.S. Department of State to implement programs as part of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief
- $29.6 million from the U. S. Department of State, USAID, and the U.S. Department of Defense for Global Disease Detection and Emergency Response and Global Public Health Capacity Development activities.
- $26.7 million in transfers from USAID for CDC’s contributions to the President’s Malaria Initiative and to address neglected tropical diseases.
- $16 million from USAID to support infectious disease and other non-malaria related activities.
