Notice to Readers Haemophilus influenzae Type b VaccineOn December 22, 1987, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration licensed a new Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) vaccine for use in children 18 months of age and older. The manufacturer is expected to begin distribution of the Hib polysaccharide- diphtheria conjugate vaccine within a few weeks. The Immunization Practices Advisory Committee (ACIP) recommendations for use of the vaccine will be published soon in the MMWR.
