This report is based on data from NCHS's National Survey of Family Growth, Cycle IV, conducted in 1988. The data represent responses given by women aged 15-44 years to questions concerning their knowledge of human immunodeficiency virus transmission (HIV), changes in sexual behavior to avoid HIV infection, and a woman's own estimate of her chance of becoming infected.
