National Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness Week -- December 7-13, 1991Persons who drive while impaired by alcohol or other drugs are a public health hazard to themselves and to others. Accordingly, the injuries, disabilities, and deaths associated with impaired driving are a major preventable public health problem. The 10th anniversary of National Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness Week, December 7-13, 1991, includes activities to discourage persons from driving if they have consumed alcohol. The theme of this week is: "Make a Pledge. Take the Keys. Call a Cab. Take a Stand. Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Drunk."
