Federal, state, and local public health agencies throughout the country will collaborate with private organizations and educational institutions on activities to promote healthy lifestyles and to heighten awareness of the essential services and benefits of public health. The Public Health Service, the American Public Health Association, the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, the National Association of County and City Health Officials, and other national public health organizations have suggested activities to their constituents to increase understanding of the role of public health in protecting and improving the health status of individuals and communities. The theme for the week, "Public Health Is You, Too," focuses on the role persons can play in protecting their own health and that of their families and communities.
