Notice to Readers Epidemiology in Action CourseCDC and Emory University will cosponsor a course designed for practicing state and local health department professionals. This course, "Epidemiology in Action," will be held at CDC during November 11-22, 1996. The course emphasizes the practical application of epidemiology to public health problems and will consist of lectures, workshops, classroom exercises (including actual epidemiologic problems), roundtable discussions, and an on-site community survey. Topics covered include descriptive epidemiology and biostatistics, analytic epidemiology, epidemic investigations, public health surveillance, surveys and sampling, computers and Epi Info software training, and discussions of selected prevalent diseases. There is a tuition charge. Deadline for application is September 15, 1996.
