In March 2003, CDC's Division of Sexually Transmitted Disease Prevention (DSTDP) published
Recommendations for Public Health Surveillance of Syphilis in the United
States. The recommendations were developed for state and local
public health programs. The recommendations are intended to make the collection and reporting of syphilis surveillance data more uniform and comparable.
