In the box on page 1, "40th Anniversary of the First Surgeon General's Report on Smoking and Health," an
error occurred in the first sentence of the second paragraph. The sentence should read, "As a result of these and other efforts, during 1963--2002, per capita annual consumption of
cigarettes among adults aged >18 years declined from 4,345 cigarettes
to 1,979, the lowest figure recorded since 1941
