Notice to Readers: Annual Health Information and Technology WeekNovember 7--13, 2004, is Annual Health Information and Technology Week. During this week, approximately 44,000 students and professionals will celebrate Health Information Management (HIM) professions, which include quality-assurance managers to information-security officers in settings from managed care organizations to home health agencies in both the private and public sectors. The American Health Information Management Association represents the community of professionals engaged in HIM. This year's theme, Health Information: Powered by Professionals, reflects the work performed by HIM professions in obtaining a more secure and electronic health information environment.
