In 2003, the percentage of adults aged
>18 years who reported being deaf or having a lot of trouble
hearing increased with age, from 1% in persons aged 18--44 years to 15% in persons aged >75 years. In every age
group, more men than women reported hearing limitations; among persons aged 65--74 years, men were more than twice as likely as women to have hearing limitations.
