* BMI = weight (kg)/height (m2). Normal BMI = 18.5--24.9, overweight = 25.0--29.9, and obese =
>30.0.
Obese persons were significantly (t test, p<0.05) more likely to report fair or poor health and activity limitation and to
make >10 visits during the preceding 12 months to health-care providers than persons of normal weight or those who
were overweight. Overweight persons had slightly higher rates of fair/poor health than persons of normal weight but reported
no differences in activity limitation or frequency of health-care visits.
