Notice to Readers: International Standards for Tuberculosis Care and The Patients' Charter for Tuberculosis CareThe Tuberculosis Coalition for Technical Assistance, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, has released the International Standards for Tuberculosis Care (ISTC) and The Patients' Charter for Tuberculosis Care. The publications were developed by partner health agencies, including CDC, for providers of tuberculosis care and their patients. The ISTC describes the level of care that practitioners should strive to achieve while treating patients who have or are suspected of having tuberculosis. The standards were endorsed by leading international health agencies. The patients' charter outlines the rights and responsibilities of persons with tuberculosis and was designed to create a mutually beneficial relationship between patients and their health-care providers. The ISTC and charter are available at http://www.stoptb.org/resource_center/documents.asp. Additional information is available from Philip C.
