Voyage Dates: 4/18-4/25
Number of passengers who have reported being ill during the voyage out of total number of passengers: 208 of 3253 (6.39%)
Number of ill crew who have reported being ill during the voyage out of total number of crew: 57 of 1163 (4.9%)
Predominant symptoms: diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps
Actions: In response to the outbreak, Carnival Cruise Line and the crew aboard the ship took the following actions:
- increased cleaning and disinfection procedures,
- sent a corporate medical staff member to the ship for additional support,
- cleaned and disinfected the terminal in Miami,
- delayed embarkation,
- collected stool specimens for analysis.
Carnival Cruise Line is making daily reports to VSP and will continue to do so until the number of ill people returns to expected levels. On April 25th, CDC staff boarded the ship in Miami to conduct an onboard environmental assessment and make recommendations
