Number of passengers who have reported being ill during the voyage out of total number of passengers: 168 of 1,854 (9.06%)
Number of ill crew who have reported being ill during the voyage out of total number of crew: 19 of 983 (1.93%)
Predominant symptoms: diarrhea and vomiting
Actions: In response to the outbreak, the crew onboard the ship have implemented infection control and outbreak response procedures, including:
- closed buffet service, except for served beverages and snacks
- isolation of ill passengers and crew until symptom free for a minimum of 24-48 hours
- continuous disinfection of high hand-contact (touch) surfaces
- additional disinfection spraying of all public areas following disembarkation in San Francisco
- segregation of soiled laundry from infected cabins for washing in high temperature machines
- VSP has requested and is receiving GI illness reports twice daily
- the ship has 2 remaining U.S. ports on this world cruise, from 1-2 February in Hawaii
- VSP staff met the ship in New York on the previous outbreak voyage ending 12 January and conducted an operational inspection on 15 January in Ft. Lauderdale, FL
